Newer version of an old favorite
I have had the older version of the Radica Big Screen Solitaire, the blue one with the pointed bottom, for many years. Unfortunately I lost it, so I ordered this one. I am a solitaire maniac, having first played when I was 4 and couldn't shuffle the cards. I'm a lot older now. This is a good replacement for the old Radica Big Screen Solitaire. The only real difference is the appearance of the cards themselves, they are not the classic old design. But everything else, including the sounds, is the same. Once all the cards are out, it solves itself, and you don't have to push the buttons to conclude the obvious. There is a timed version, and it lights itself if it's too dark. It has a high score button. The screen is large, and easy to read. This version takes 2 AA batteries, as opposed to the 4 AAA batteries of the older version. This was a wise move for Radica, as the old version was a good, solid, enjoyable game, and this one is too. An insignificant drawback is that it is heavier than the older version.

Great Game!
Love this solitaire game! I just purchased this to replace an identical game that I had for the last 2+ years that I had worn out. (I was having to press really hard to get the buttons to respond) It has a nice big screen and a light when needed. I read a few other comments about not being able to move stacks with multiple cards but I have never seen that on either of my games. (Maybe it is on the Vegas option?? I don't like playing Vegas so I really wouldn't know about that.) I also have frequent wins, unlike some of the comments. I can see not having many wins on Vegas since it only seems to go thru the stack once. It would be nice if the option buttons had their descriptions in larger and darker letters. I have to put on my glasses to see them, but usually only have to do that if I accidently changed the game type or turned on the sound! Great game to carry on trips and to have in waiting rooms! I would definitely recommend this game!

Handheld Solitaire game
This is the best handheld solitaire game I've ever owned. The screen is very easy to read, and it has features very much like your computer's version, complete with an "UNDO" button. The items description is in error, this unit only has 2 AAA batteries included. The only negative comment I would have, would be that the lettering below the buttons is written in a light orange color which does not offer much contrast with the white background. The lettering is very small and is difficult to see. I had to print letters using a black marker. Other than that, I really like the game. Additionally, the backlight comes on automatically when needed, and I've used it in many different locations & have nothing but praise as to when the light comes on. Someone else who reviewed this item says it never lets you win. I've had the item for several weeks now and have won quite a few times, so the only comment I have regarding that is that he/she doesn't know how to play Solitaire!!

Great Game, but challenging
The quality of this game is great. The light automatically comes on when the room is dark (it has a light sensor). There is a sound button, undo button, timer, and it keeps track of the high score. The game also turns off by itself after a few minutes of no play. The two versions of the game are challenging, it is not your basic easy solitaire. If you read some of the other reviews you will see how they say "it is not a deck of fifty two cards" or "it is impossible to beat." It is because the versions of solitaire are Klondike (where the deck of cards draws 3 at a time and you have to use the top one before getting to the next one underneath) and Vegas (where you can only go through the draw deck once). So just know you are getting a difficult rating game, and be prepared for a challenge if you have never played these versions.

Big Screen Solitaire
This was a replacement game for my Mom. She evidently wore her first one out and wanted the same thing as a replacement. I also have this game but don't need a replacement at this point. The unit is not a flimsy cheap product so please don't think that was a problem. It is made well and we enjoy the features that you don't always get -- undo and high score are buttons I like to check. As far as being educational that really was not a consideration. However if young children were to play, I'm sure putting the correct card numbers and suits in the proper order could be considered educational. Mostly, we just enjoy playing the game!

Too limited
I love to play solitare when I am on standby mode at my work station.. I can't sleep and I need something like this game.. It is an excellent unit and functions very well.. I like a much less restrictive type of solitare.. I like to win in other words.. you won't win too many hands with this platform or software thats in it.. It has the vegas type where you can play all the cards single file but only one run.. Or it plays the 3 at a time option.. For me its very hard to finish or win a hand.. I get one out of maybe 10 deals to win.. So since its just me killing time and I am not in any sort of major competition it is somewhat not my kind of hand held game.. If I could pull cards off the ace's back onto the board and if I could play single file unlimited I would love it.. I would not buy this game again nor would I recommend it to a novice type of gamer such as me.. If you are somewhat more competitive or rules attracted player it will do the job.. I mean no offence to any other solitare players.. this is my review of my style and preferences and I by no means wish to reflect any judgment or opinion toward others..
