Q: Why does this cost so much here on Amazon?you can get it at Lowe's for less than $10 each.

These jerks sent me this item still in the WALMART box! I checked the Walmart website - each for $9.97, so basically $20 for 2 instead of the 30 some bucks on here. I am sending mine back to Amazon and will order from Walmart directly. Even with the $5.99 next-day delivery if items are not over $35, it is still cheaper and faster service than Amazon.

Q: Can this be used just by opening the jug rather than pouring into a smaller container?

Sure. But not an efficient use. A jug is enough "refill" for at least 10-to-15 small containers.

Q: Is this supposed to have an inner seal? Mine came without and I am leery.

neither the refill jug I purchased locally at a Farm & Home store nor any of the jugs from Amazon had an inner seal. Evidently the folks in the shipping department were aware of this, as the jugs always have a line of tape across the lids so they can’t loosen and spill. Product works as expected, so guessing since it isn’t a food or consumable product it doesn’t need to have an inner seal. Probably saves money for the manufacturer. Hopefully this addressed your concerns and answered your question.

Q: What are the ingredients

Mostly calcium chloride, but up to 5% each of sodium chloride and potassium chloride. (Source: manufacturer's Safety Data Sheet). So, salts, but not the kind you can eat.
