Never a cookbook so beautiful, inspiring, nourishing, sensational and moving...
Not exaggerating: over the 150+ of culinary/baking books I have in the collection just as a culinary student currently in the States, never a book like this Jamie Oliver Cooks Italy by Chef Jamie Oliver and his mentor Gennaro Contaldo that is so beautiful and moving from cover to cover, page to page, recipe by recipe, (Except for one photo. Have to be honest.)Saw Chef Oliver's food expedition on You/FoodTube to Italy for the most down-to-earth, homey dishes with the nonni, the nonni bellissimo and their past down generations dishes that were prepared with heart and soul. I love these nonni bellisimos:). They are cuddly-adorable! I love how they shared their appreciation, the nature, the value, the beauty, the scarcity, the art and the heart of food. They shared without any reservations so that this book can be published and be presented to us who can also participate and carry on the wonderful traditional Italian dishes. Chef Oliver, Chef Contaldo and their team did a marvelous job in piecing them all together.*****Every recipe includes: Title, brief of the dish, serving sizes, prep/cooking time, ingredients, procedures nutritional value table and beautiful photos of the dish that you just want to put your aprons on and start cooking or eat them right out from the pages. Chef's team (led by photographer Mr. David Loftus) took painstaking work to compile the beautiful photos of the nonni, the places where both chefs ventured out and upscaled the dishes they have learned from each of the nonni. All the scenarios, people and close-up photos are so vivid that you just want to jump into the book and join the company. They have captured the memorable moments. You will also find stories of the different nonni and their word of wisdom about cooking and life...All this is bonded in a 400+ pages of fine-graded paper, hardcover, by Penguin Random House, UK. Printed in Germany by Mohn Media.Chef Oliver will also show you many of the cooking techniques such as preparing the pasta and dough from scratch with simple techniques like a child's play. These nonni dishes range from "cucina povera" to the governor's house. Each with their own special ingredients but never a heart-beat missing with the dishes they prepare with their aged hands, adorable faces and golden hearts. They reminded me of my lovely and endearing grandmamas who introduced me to their kitchens and didn't mind a mite in messing up their havens. Their love to prepare food to nourish the bodies and cherish the souls of others with lots of TLCs just bubbles over! Your eyes will be really open. Just be super careful of where/what to eat and drink. Another tip, avoid the summer or tropical-weather seasons. Simple does not mean boring!
I am glad I picked this cookbook up!I have been watching Jamie's Cooking in Italy series on YouTube, so I picked this book up, hoping that it included recipes from both the nonna's and himself from the serries. I was NOT disappointed! The recipes, for the most part, live up to Jamie Oliver's "standard" of simple does not mean bland - great collection, and I have to see how many I can make!

Perfect for impressing!
I was a Jamie Oliver fan already, and this book just helped cement my view. All of the recipes look delicious and fairly simple (I would consider myself a pretty advanced cook but with no technical training). The pictures are gorgeous and practically beg you to make the recipe! Most of the recipes are not necessarily something I would make on a weeknight for just my husband and I, so I have instituted my own Jamie Cooks Italy nights once a month where we invite friends over and share wine, laughs, and one of these recipes. Some of the ingredients have taken some effort to locate, but thankfully I live in a fairly foodie city. If you do not have that luxury, you might struggle to find some of the ingredients, but Jamie does a good job of suggesting alternatives when appropriate. This is easily my favorite Jamie Oliver book.

MASTERPIECE
This book is a chefs diary and a personal trip to Italy with beautiful recipes! I got it as a gift for my son, but i read it first.I’m a big fan of Jamie Oliver because of his flavorful recipes and the fact he uses both tradition and innovation in all his recipes!My mother was an outstanding home cook and 100 yrs old when we loved watching one of his TV shows together religiously.I read some of his restaurants are closing in the UK, so I wanted to help keep Oliver in business so I bought this book!I recall when he came the US to work with our lacking school lunch programs and make kids school lunches healthier and kids loved the food! Only JamieOliver could have achieved that.Buy Jamie Olivers Books they are ALL fantastic!

Excellent Food / Easy to Prepare
Jaimie Oliver is most excellent. Love his shows, love his books, the food is great and preparation is simple for the non-chef types like me.
