Review of certified organic ground black pepper from Spice Profile This product was certainly a chance for me to learn about black pepper. I had been mistakenly thinking that one black pepper was fairly similar to another. The scent of this pepper bears little resemblance to that of the peppercorns I use in my kitchen. Upon opening the bag, what I smell is not so much a familiar pepper smell but a sweet aroma, possibly fruity, possibly citrus-like, maybe pine-like. There's a bit of the typical pepper aroma as well, but it's overwhelmed by the other scents. It does has a peppery bite, though. I personally don't get any of the same sweet tastes as I do scents. The pepper has very strong pepper flavor and is obviously fresh. Best-by date is a year and a half from when I received the spice. Although I can see how you might consider this pepper to be a coarse grind, it is finer than I was expecting. When I think of coarse ground, I think of pepper with little chunks like what you might see in a marinade. This pepper is somewhere between that and a powder with a fairly uniform grind and no chunks.

Really great flavor

We use a ton of pepper in our house and this pepper is absolutely fantastic. The taste is great and my husband even complimented it and was a huge fan. It's a good size bag!

The 4oz pouch is resealable, which helps keep the pepper fresh and flavorful. The grind is fine, perfect for cooking, smoothies, lattes, and teas. I used it in my pasta, and it added a nice kick without being too overpowering. Since it’s organic, I feel good about using it. The only downside is that it’s a bit more expensive than regular black pepper. But if you’re into organic and natural stuff, it’s worth the extra cost.

I ordered this product hoping that the size of the pepper grains would be more consistent than I am able to achieve with my pepper grinder. I have a grinder that is adjustable in grind size, but the problem is that the grinding action doesn’t result in consistent sizing - not a problem in most cases, but there are times (for example, when the pepper is sort of used as a ‘coating’ on a food item) where consistent size is a bit more important. I can say that the grind size of this pepper, is coarse for sure, but more importantly for me, is a much more consistent size than I am able to obtain with my grinder. The price is reasonable for such a quality product, and I LOVE the packaging - a very nice, heavy-duty ziplock style bag that will help keep the pepper fresh for a long time. Great product!

This is a 4 oz resealable pouch of organic ground black pepper from Spice Profile. It arrived in perfect condition and with a far off expiration date, so very fresh. The pepper is sourced from India. Opening the pouch you get a pungent black pepper aroma. There also seems like there's a hint of ground cumin aroma, but that may simply be that it's an earthy variety of pepper. The flavor of this pepper is spicy and excellent. I like that it is USDA organic. The packaging is nice in that it is designed to stand up on its own and keep the pepper fresh, but I do feel that pepper is easier to use when it comes in a container with a shaker top. Not a big deal, but I'll probably end up dispensing this into a different container. I would point out though that this is fine grind pepper. In the picture I have included, on the left is coarse grind black pepper from my pepper mill. On the right is this Spice Profile black pepper. As you can see, this pepper is actually quite fine. That absolutely works for me, but if you are doing something where you actually need coarse grind black pepper such as steak au poivre, you'll need to use something else. At the time I'm writing this, the price for this bag of ground black pepper is $7.99, which seems like a good value for this quality organic black pepper.

I'm like..a pepper fanatic. I have food with my pepper, not pepper with my food. It's just spicy and delicious!This variety is pretty finely ground. I figured this when ordering…but I guess that I prefer a more course grind. However, it has an awesome flavor. Slightly different than the flavor profile of big box store pepper. It's hard to describe the difference. It also seems more fresh. It is slightly tough to use in the bag..but I assume the intention is to transfer it to your own shaker which is what I did! Much easier.Overall, really loved the flavor and fragrance. For that reason, I would continue to order as well as recommend!
