I urge anyone who has not read Mary BALOGH to give them a try as they are all exceptional and excellent heartfelt stories every
I pre-ordered this book in January and it arrived this week. Once I started reading it I could not stop until the end. Always happens with any books I read by Mary BALOGH. It was a lovely story and Book 7, culmination of The Survivors Club tales. This was about George (and Dora). George started up a home for injured servicemen (and one traumatised woman) - .(the six most badly injured stayed with him for 3 years) and Books 1 to 6 are their stories. I urge anyone who has not read Mary BALOGH to give them a try as they are all exceptional and excellent heartfelt stories every time. Books 1 to 7 of The Survivors Club are available on Kindle. I am sure once you start reading one you will want to read them all. I read her books over and over as you always seem to miss something during the first read. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

One of my favourites!
I absolutely love this book. It is probably best read as the finale of the series, but it would also stand alone. I have re read it far more than any other in this series as it just really stikes a chord. You fall in love with the characters straight away and Dora is just an absolute delight. George is delicious of course! The more mature relationship develops beautifully and subtly. I particularly enjoyed reading about romances between slightly older characters. Love and romance certainly does not stop once you hit 40! All in all highly recommended, just right for a cosy read whilst you have a glass of wine and snuggle up on the sofa with the dog!

Mature Love
How delightful it is to enjoy a novel that addresses the issue of mature love among other things. This was wonderful for me as a mature reader. This was the story of Dora who at 39 , a lovely young woman, considered herself firmly on the shelf. She is the happy recipient of a proposal from the Duke of Stanbrook who is one of the Survivors carrying terrible secrets from the Peninsular War and its aftermath. The development of their loving relationship brought me to tears on a number of occasions and when t h e title words were used ......OMG.......floods. This may not appeal to the younger reader because it is about a mature relationship, no insta lust or love but no less moving for that!

More heroes!
I waited a long time for this book, the last in the Survivers series. I so wanted to know what happened to them all and am delighted that all's well that ends well. The characters are well drawn, the flawed heroes of the Peninsular and Waterloo and the women who finish healing them. I found out much more about the war reading these books than from a history book and have a greater appreciation of the men who went there, many of them never coming back. I have read quite a number of Mary Balogh's books and there are more to find thankfully. Loved them all.

The Survivors Club books 1_7
As I was isolating all alone, I thought I would treat myself over Easter and read all these books for a second time, they were as interesting and the storylines pleased, and no problem only disappointment when I finished no,7 What next!?.

when will mary balogh write a bad book. never l think is the answer to that one. a gentle finish to the survivor series with a little look into their futures in the end. l think all her faithful readers guessed that dora would marry the duke! it did not stop all the enjoyment of the read and the joy [ and always a lot of pain too from miss balogh] of the romantic couple. highly recommend that any new readers should start at the beginning of the series when l guarantee they will be hooked.

Really engaging final episode.
This is the final story of "The Survivors Club" series. It is just as iwell crafted as the earlier stories. George, Duke of Stanbrook, decides to woo Doris a music teacher. It seems an unlikely match. The story tells of Georges unhappy first mariage and the reasons. Other reviewers have given detail which I won't repeat. I must say it was unecessary. IMHO one shouldn't give away too many details.

Really enjoyed the last in this series
Really enjoyed the last in this series. Written very well and main character true to all previous references in the other books. Though I worked out his problem early in the story and how it would work out it was very well eritten to hold interest so you could read it as the author kept you in wanting to know how it would all resolve. The other survivors were integral in this story so all ends neatly tied up. Excellent read.
