Very strong
Strong enough to easily retrieve a lost fishing rod, provided yours has enough ferrous metal on it to attract.

Not what you think
Doesn’t pick up unless magnet is dropped directly on top of iron standing straight up. If you’re dragging across bottom of river or lake, the sides of the magnet do not grab metal at all. May be best suited for using from a boat and pulling straight up and down.Definitely will not pickup 400 lbs like it says in the description. It would come free when I tried to pick up a 50lb dumbbell. Probably good for 20lbs or so.All said, for the money it has entertained us. We haven’t found any treasures yet, but we’ll keep looking.

Big punch in a small package.
That lil ol’ magnet is stout to only be 400 lb rating. Me and my son love it!!

It's a cheap starter magnet.
I got this to start magnet fishing. It was great at first got screw nails and fishing hooks. But that was all.. went out on day and found a piece of steel . Looked like a big T. I was tire of being over so I put this 400 pound magnet on it and went to lift it. No it kept falling off. After the 3rd attempt I bent over picked it up and when home.. then ordered a better magenta. It's good for starters but that it in my opinion ...

Powerful Magnet attracts metal
Overall, great tool to find coins or anything in lakes or rivers. Fun hobby to do if bored.

Nope
The magnet doesn’t hold 400 pounds it barely holds 10 pounds I couldn’t even pick up a lawn chair with it and fell off right away. You’d be better off spending a little bit more money and getting a bigger magnet. We threw it out and could only pick up funny sets of iron pulling across the bottom of the river. Once it was so small it was easy to get stuck in the river
