Really HOT chili pepper!
I don’t want to be insulting to this company, but one of the reasons I bought this was because I am at my wits end with squirrels in my birdfeeders. Birds do not have the glands in their beaks or internal tasting glands to feel hot pepper so this doesn’t affect them. Squirrels, on the other hand, were getting used to regular chili pepper so I upped my game. Tired of spending a fortune on bird seeds that the squirrels were eating, I had to do something they would remember. Now, they cannot even tolerate standing on this chili pepper! Since I started using this, they are afraid to go to the feeders. A little victory for me. I have now figured out how to give the squirrels their food and leave the bird seed to the birds. I have containers where I mix the seed blends with some chili powder before I put it in the feeder. I wear gloves in a well ventilated area. I am saving money since I am not filling the feeders every other day!

Very hot, very good. Use it cooking, use it to discourage pests. Works for both.
It is very fragrant and very hot for a ground chilli. That combination makes it ideal in red curries, most Mexican cuisine, and many Chinese cuisines. It's hot so go easy but the fragrance matches the heat.I also use it in the garden to discourage pests. Deer on a dogwood, cats in the vegetable garden, woodpecker on my house. The list goes on. They are trained quickly (minimal pain) because the fragrance is strong enough for them to remember.

Hot.
Hot means hot.I order my indian food from indian restaurants 'indian Hot and it won't take much of this stuff to get you there. This is probably a life time supply for almost everyone.Just to give you an idea I make a weeks worth of curry (10-12 servings) and only use a table spoon of this to make it a comfortable heat. If I want to feel every follicle of hair on my head and immediately break out a sweat I add 2.Enjoy.

GREAT... HERE'S the low-down...
I'll say this, just a tiny pinch is enough to light-up a meal! I did some googling and found the Product Description posted here CUT-OFF the last sentence, the picture was a little out of focus but the rest of the description on the label reads, "... Rani Chili Ground comes from the Kashmiri chili grown in the northern most part of Kashmir."TRUE Kashmiri is a very flavorful intensely red chili grown in Kashmir. It is a largish chili with medium conical shape, a fruity flavor and little heat (only about 500-1,000 Schoville Heat Units). Dried it is fairly smooth and very dark in color. Kashmir chilies are not much exported from the region due to scarcity. Since real Kashmir chilies are in very short supply in India, and demand for this type of chili is very high, substitutes are far more common than the real thing. Most chilies used to make "Kashmir" chili powder are a more elongated type, often Byadagi varieties Kaddi or Dabbi, but still very mild. They are not so intensely red, so a little paprika is often added to a dish for color. Indian chefs abroad recommend a mix of mostly paprika with some cayenne for heat, but Kashmiri chili powder (the substitute kind) is easily available from Indian markets here in Los AngelesFor reference:S4 Class: Hatch Green; 2,000 - 5,000 Scoville Heat UnitsS5 Class: Rocotillo; 2,500 - 5,000 Scoville Heat UnitsS6 Class: Jalapeno, Serrano, Yellow Wax, Guajillo, Mirasol; 5,000 - 15,000 Scoville Heat UnitsS7 Class: Chipotle, Hidalgo, Puya, Hot Wax; 15,000 - 30,000 Scoville Heat UnitsS8 Class: Manzano, Chile De Arbol; 30,000 - 50,000 Scoville Heat UnitsS9 Class: Cayenne, Tobasco, Santaka, Pequin, Super Chile, Santaka, Aji, Jaloro; 50,000 - 100,000 Scoville Heat UnitsRatings go up to S12 for Ghost Pepper (Bhut Jolokia a.k.a. Naga Jolokia) and Trinidad Moruga Scorpion: 855,000 - 2,100,000 Scoville Heat Units.Indian chilies (and Cayenne) only go up to S9, which includes the Dhani, Guntur Red and Mulaku chilies. There are a lot of varieties of Dhani (a.k.a. Bird Chilies, African Devil; C. frutescens or C. annuum), but they are about S8 or S9. The Guntur Red (a non-specific name) is also about S8 or S9. I don't know about the Mulaku. But EXACTLY what chilies/ingredients are used in THIS product is STILL not known because the maker/seller does not list the ingredients, so it MAY be the real deal, OR you may be buying Cayenne or Tabasco... who knows???

Great chilli powder
I ordered this in order to have a standard Indian chilli powder of reasonable though not vicious heat; something to replace the cayenne pepper I was using as a 'standard' addition. This powder came promptly (ahead of the given delivery date). It's packaged in a nice plastic container. It's very nice: a good bright red; a decent kind of heat; and I think a nice flavour. Dishes with a spoon of this added take on a pleasing reddish colour, and/or a bit of red on the surface. I'm finding it excellent as a use-all-the-time chilli powder. I do also use others, such as Kashmiri (low heat), Chipotle Smoked (mild and smoky). But this is great as the go-to chilli powder. I'd recommend it.

A revelation wrapped into an aromatic surprise.
This chilly is hot, very hot, as any respectable chilly would be.But it has two very distinct traits that most powdered chilly are missing: moisture and aroma. This thing is alive and a few grains of it will elevate any dish. Its aroma will make you want to create and wear a cologne that will smell like it.Its moisture content will distinguish it from the vulgar, even from the common. If you enjoy fine chilly, this is for youIf you want to know what chilly is about, this is for you.
