Q: Hi I have a tripod that has the swivel and up a down arm ,do I still need tobpurchase fhe seperate ball head?

You will need to mount the MSM directly to your swivelling tripod head (you need this swivel to adjust for Polaris alignment), PLUS you need a ball head attached to MSM (or better yet, their "V bracket) to aim your camera.

Q: Does it have an adjustable mount for correct polar alignment like other star trackers and if not how is it set up?

Yes, we have 2 options to do this, one is with the general ball head, it's most cost-effective. If you choose the polar scope, then the wedge is recommended, it's designed to do fine-tune in polar alignment.
