Not meant for everyone
I had ordered it for my 4 year old son to carry him during hiking trips. My overall feeling was that it was a decent idea but the design has some flaws and would not be suitable for a lot of people.Pros :The quality of materials used is of good quality and feels well madeCons:There are a couple of design limitations. First, the harness for the child has no buttock support so the child has to stand and balance himself on a steel rod the whole time. The idea of having the child stand up and have a clear view appeared good in theory but in practice didn't work that well and my child was tired quickly trying to stand and balance himself on the steel bar (which does sway a little as you move) and he got off after 20-30 min of use.The second factor, that others have also mentioned is that there is no load bearing waist straps (for the adult carrying the child) and the complete weight of the child falls on the shoulder. This was not an issue for me as my child did not stay for longer than 20-30 min on it but I can imagine it become tiresome for the adult for long trips.Overall I would say, it may make sense if you have a child 5-6 year old who can stand upright and balance himself for longer periods of time. Kids smaller than 5 may find it too tiring to stand and ride, and kids above 6 may be too heavy to carry in this harness.

Fantastic!
This is absolutely amazing. We have used this with our 2 year old on a lot of long hikes. She'll last about 2-3 hours on it. It's a little hard on the adult's shoulders, but that is to be expected. We also had to replace the water bladder because the water always tasted completely foul and gross. But, it still earns 5 stars because it is unique and we can't live without it. We constantly have people ask about it and inquire where they can get one. I hope to see a updated product, maybe with hip support for the adult. But, this is worth every penny and a life-saver for a family that likes to hike.

It's better than nothing, but it's really not very good at its job.
Where to start on this? It really just isn't very well designed. When the kid isn't attached to it, the whole thing slides down your back, leaving the sternum strap choking you. When the kid is on it, the weight pulls it tight somehow, and it doesn't choke you, but the problem is, there is no waist belt, so you're holding 100% of your kid's weight on your chest, and it's not like it's even distributed across the chest, it's just at one pinch point on each pec. It's extremely uncomfortable, and judging by how my son would jump on and off of it, I think I can assume he didn't enjoy riding at all. I backpack all over my state and I carry about as much gear as my son weighs, and with my properly loaded pack I can barely tell it's there, I knew my son was back there every step of the way.Overall this product makes it slightly easier to piggy back a small child, when you do a normal piggy back with no gear the child chokes you as they hold on, so that's obviously bad, but this product isn't much better. I'm not sure if I'll be brave enough to try it again, it really made for a miserable day of hiking trying to stay comfortable with this poorly designed pack. Now, the workmanship and quality seem fine, the bar is quite strong and it has a great no slip surface on it, both packs are tiny, but I was able to slip a pocket knife and some snacks into mine, and some snacks into his. The water nozzle has a shut off valve, so at least they got that part right. All in all, just not impressed with the kid carrying design of the product.

love it!
i've used it several times now, once at the Audubon Museum Sapsucker Festival, 3 times hiking. it's great that i can get my 2 1/2 year old on and off easily, and she's happy to stand on the bar. last time we went hiking i left the snacks in the car and she threw a fit. still kept her on, and since her weight was distributed evenly she couldn't pull me over : )

Awesome Product
I highly recommend this to parents. Made life easier for me especially when traveling, attending concerts and festivals where my daughter would just be at my back hands-free. Very sturdy. I bought mine years ago here in Amazon but never got around to putting a review. It's now used by my brother and his three-year-old. They are very happy as well.

Works, but needs major improvement
It does the job and my kid loved it. As many other reviewers stated, the design needs to be better to allow for the hips to take some of the weight distribution rather than the shoulders. With this design, basically you're holding your kid on your back with a strap only connected to your shoulders.

No more lazy kids!
If you are tired of lazy rugrats getting pushed around like Princes and Princesses this product is for you. No longer will you have to play the "Get in the stroller!", "Come here now!", or "I am not going to carry you." game. What is safer than having your child with you all the time, communicating their wants "I want a Cotton Candy" and needs "I have to go potty." After a small adjustment period and one fall (she did not injure herself, just scared herself and mother); my three year daughter knows she has to hold tight, stand tall and not mess around. She loves being able to see everything while talking in my ear, and I love not having a stroller to contend with. It is a comfortable ride for both of us and makes us look like a two-headed giant! We don't have to wait for her dawdling, and she doesn't get as tired from running everywhere trying to keep up with us (less tired = less whiny). It also has the benefit of making her work a little, by standing, versus being pushed around like a modern day Maharaja. Added bonus, we bought the hydration pack carrier and were pleasantly surprised that the child ALSO gets a hydration pack for themselves no more "Daddy I am thirsty!" she knows where her water is and I don't get animal crackers in mine. Only one caveat; when she is tired from the day she lays over my shoulder to sleep which can be bothersome while trying to walk. I recommend this product for anyone with children.

Not for the weak
Made a trip to yellowstone bearable, but beware....you need to have some time in at the gym. I've got a strong back and strong shoulders. This things not for the weak. No pansies!
