Not fancy, and not the cheapest. But look at the one- and two-star reviews for the cheapest ones - the biggest complaint is that it is covered with a shiny coating that comes off with use or when washed. Look for one like this one - "uncoated solid stainless steel." You'll be glad you did. And measure your espresso filter basket thingy (whatever you call it) carefully. If the diameter of the tamper is too big, it won't work for you. This one is basic, uncoated solid stainless steel. I've had it for a few months and it looks the same as the day I got it. If that changes, I'll be back!

I ordered this for my Krups espresso machine. Alas, I measured too fast and the Krups actually is more like 49 mm, not 51mm! Since it was my fault, I decided not to return and to try my bench grinder to reduce it. Took about a half hour with the grinding and polishing up, but it worked fine. And this ain't no cheapie plated item like some of the competitors appear to be, solid stainless all the way as I ground it down. Now it works fine and I'll now have a great latte!

This could have been put together by pressing or shrink-fitting but now, they threaded the three parts together, perhaps thinking it would be good for cleaning? This does not need to come apart for cleaning. It does not need to come apart at all. But as shipped from the factory, it definitely WILL come apart nearly every time you use it, unless you put loctite or epoxy on the threads. It's pretty, and it's serviceable, but the consumer shouldn't have to finish the factory's work.

So you the longest time I have been using a cheap plastic tamper with my Gaggia Espresso, and it sorta worked. I had to throw all my weight on it and still meh. Now with this heavy duty tamper I need to make sure I don't tamp too much. I could never get my grind to tamp as good as I can now. I am pulling the richest creamiest shots now. Awesome!!!!!

Very good product for the money. It does not feel cheap and its nice and heavy. I have a delonghi Ec702 (using the stock Portafilter but depressurized) and this tampers 51mm side is just a little too small for my liking. I should have tried to find a 52mm which I think would have fit my portafilter better. I'm very new to pulling espresso so I'm going through some trial and error. Overall I'd say that this is a very good product and is well worth the money.

For $10 I was highly impressed by the quality of the stainless steel finish and the weight to the tamper, I will update and report on it’s durability after using it for a while.Also, the 51mm side fits my Mr. Coffee Espresso Machine perfectly.Base on the price and first impressions I would recommend it.

I like that it is as describe and shown. Very well made and solid. It feels very comfortable on your hand when you use it. I use it with my esspreso machine. It's the perfect size. I'm very please. Helps me have a more pleasant cup of coffee.
