Review
I've returned to Rico reeds after decades. Like many of the reviewers, I was always under the impression Rico reeds are for beginners, not consistent from one reed to another and that they don't produce good sound quality. They're what i played until middle school (decades ago) when I switched to Royal reeds. Recently, I watched a YouTube review where the reviewer explained Rico and LaVoz reeds (historically played by many professionals) are the exact same reeds. I bought some Rico reeds and found no difference. Rico reeds are excellent reeds for all level players. They are among my favorites. I read Amazon reviews saying they don't last, are of poor quality, smell, do/don't produce a bad smell, etc. After playing dozens of reed brands over the years, I can say none of that it true. These reeds are top level reeds at a price way lower than what they could be. There's no down side to these reeds.

Best bang for the price
I've tried just about all the tenor reeds on the market except the really cheap Chinese products. In my opinion, the Ricco tenor reeds do the job, last at least as long as any other brand, and are great for the price. I use them daily.

Very good quality for a cane reed .
I bought these reeds for my recently purchased Maui Xaphoon . The Xaphoon came with Rico 2.5 reed . Being new to reed instruments , I found the 2.5 to be too hard . The Rico 1.5 worked a lot better for me . These are good reeds at a decent price , fast delivery , and packed in decent individual cases . If you like cane reeds , this is a good choice , but I think I'm going to change to a synthetic reed . Nothing against Rico cane reeds , but synthetic reeds are my choice . I fitted my cheap FarBoat pocket sax with both Rico 1.5 , and Legere 1.5 synthetic reeds . I prefer the synthetic , although they are much more expensive .
